So you finally got your new WordPress website designed, developed and live for all to see. Good job! It feels great crossing that item off your to-do-list. Oh, then you realise a few weeks later that you need to make some small changes to your website, like adding an image or a blog post. This can be daunting when technology just isn’t your thing. Surely there’s a simple solution that doesn’t involve going back to your expensive web developer every time?
The good news is there is! There’s actually a few solutions to this common dilemma, and this post focuses on my top two (based on cost and time).
We have all likely found ourselves in this situation, or even worse, when one of your customers sends you a screenshot of your website showing weird computer code or error messages. Your heart starts beating faster as you wonder how long this glitch has been like that, how many potential customers didn’t purchase from your website, and how the heck you’re going to fix it when you don’t even know how WordPress works!
The following solutions both happen to be services offered by a website hosting company called GoDaddy. In basic terms the first service, called WP Premium Support, offers customers the ability to get multiple WordPress edits made to their website by professional developers on a monthly credit system. The second service, called Pro Connect, is a listing of local freelance website developers/designers for you to contact directly.
This service is so easy, and is designed for the time-poor or the technologically unsavvy. You simply pick your plan based on how much you will need done per month. You are then allocated credits, which go towards tasks completed their expert web designers and developers. Every task in the WordPress Premium Support catalog costs one credit, regardless of the amount of time taken.
All websites require ongoing maintenance, usually simple things like updating the theme or plug-ins used on your site to keep it running smoothly as technology moves forward. The reason I love this service is that it cuts out all the quoting and back and forth required when working with your original website designer. Sometimes you just want something fixed or added without the hassle of invoices and being told you will have to wait a few days. This service might just be for you.
This service is a little more hands on, as you will have to read reviews and checkout different web design freelancer portfolios to find the one for you. The great part is the ability to contact lots of freelancers for quotes. When you’re not savvy in the tech world, and your website is in need of updates, it is handy to have this list of local talent right at your fingertips. You no longer have to feel like you don’t have a range of options to suit your budget and website needs.

In summary, when it comes to maintaining your website don’t let it get to a point where it needs a complete overhaul. Using either of the options above will allow you the ability to keep your website fresh, functioning and relevant. It can be overwhelming when you don’t know where to turn or who to trust with your website needs. Hopefully this article was helpful. If you know someone who might benefit from it, help them out and share it with them 🙂
